About this Resource
School is For You! explains:
School options available for young immigrants ages 18–21 in NYC—High School, High School Equivalency (HSE), and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
What kinds of subjects they will learn and support they will receive through each option.
How they can enroll in school and the barriers they may face in the process.
The guide encourages young immigrants to assert their rights when Family Welcome Center or school staff tries to discourage them from enrolling in High School. It includes six perforated cards that they can tear out and bring with them to show staff members, similar to las tarjetas rojas/red cards.
